Multitasking!
Okay, so maybe this won’t make you fitter, but being productive DOES certainly seem to make us happier.
I have always thought, or at the very least, hoped, that my manic amount of multitasking had somehow increased my productivity. Come to find, that may not be the case.
This article “What Multi-Tasking Does to Our Brains” has a few simple take aways:
(although I would suggest just reading the entire article)
1. Only keep one web browser tab open at a time
2. Make a list and plan the evening before
3. Change work locations at least once a day
Every one of these may not apply to every person, but it’s definitely an interesting read, and I think for myself, they may be some good principles to apply to my working hours.
Some of you also might be glad to know by the way, that listening to music, according to some of the studies referenced in this particular article, isn’t multitasking.

A New-Do for FontGear!

In case you missed it – we’ve had quite a few changes over here on the FontGear website. Some updates & some things new!
Last week, we released a FontDoctor update for both Mac & Windows.
We also recently added an update for FontGenius 2.6 that you can download by clicking on the link. The upgrade is FREE for our current FontGenius customers, so get downloading.

FontDoctor updated for Mac & Windows

Today we released an update for FontDoctor for Macintosh and Windows.
FontDoctor has long been the industry standard for font problem diagnosis, repair, and organization.

Ten Dollar Fonts

Ten Dollar Fonts is a host sight created to increase visibility & exposure for up & coming designers.
They currently have a (growing) collection of 24 fonts for sale at – you guessed it – 10 dollars a piece. Of those 24, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we actually liked quite a few…

FontGenius 2.6 for Mac & Windows

Today we released version 2.6 of FontGenius for Mac (OS X 10.5+) and yes – hold your mouse – for Windows (XP, Vista, and 7).
What’s new?
Well, the usual round of fixes and improvements are there, and we’ve added new support for Twitter and EMail links built right in so you can share your font matches with friends and co-workers.
FontGenius examines pictures and identifies typefaces of any text within a picture. Using advanced recognition technology, FontGenius will produce a list of likely fonts that match selected characters within an image, and will generate character previews of the matched fonts.
Using the matched results, a search can be performed on the internet or your own computer to locate, download, or purchase matched fonts.

Typography Sketchbooks

Weighing in at just over 3 pounds and 350 pages – Typography Sketchbook features the doodlings of nearly 120 designers & typographers from their personal notebooks – including Erikk Spiekermann, Milton Glaser, Maira Calman & Paul Shaw. Each designer also has a mini-essay included along with their sketches. It seems to us to be the perfect fix to inspire & chase away the winter blues.
FontDoctor Upgrade Correction
In an earlier press release announcing FontDoctor v8.1 it was erroneously reported that
“The update is FREE to version 7 users. Older version can be upgraded for $19.99.“
This was a typographical error that was picked up from a previous press release. It should have read that the upgrade is free for version 8 users.
We are sorry for any confusion and frustration that this mistake may have caused any of our customers.
