The short documentary “Making Faces” featuring type designer & graphic artist – the late Jim Rimmer (1931-2010) was released this past week.
The film itself follows Jim Rimmer as he creates the letter ‘k’ as apart of a new type design ‘RFT Stern’ in both a metal hand-set & a digital font. It is the first design to do both simultaneously.
The film itself is about 45 minutes long, but includes several hours of bonus features & interviews that allow its audience to see further details in the metal type making process. Each DVD also includes a piece of cast metal type made by Jim during filming. For more information, check their website.
